2019 Annual Appeal
2019 marks 50 years of celebration of New College and its role in the formation of the many young people during their studies at UNSW. I now give you the opportunity to help support outstanding New Collegians of the future.
Read about how generous alumni and friends of New College have helped some of our 2019 scholarship and bursary recipients.
It has been a challenging year. College has had to adapt to the new UNSW3+ model as we continue to sustain and enhance the high quality community life offered at New College. The College Board and management have worked hard to ensure that the cost of membership of New College remains as affordable and competitive as possible in this new environment. However, the six additional weeks of required residency has meant an inevitable increase in the overall annual cost, especially for families who have siblings living with us.
Further, it is clear that drought in rural Australia is hitting families hard. In response, I will be bringing scholarship application closing dates (Round 1) forward to September this year so that potential residents and their families can have certainty in the support that college is able to provide next year. Residents from rural Australia need support at greater levels now than at any time in the last decade.
It would be greatly appreciated if you are able to make a once-off tax-deductable contribution to our scholarship and bursary program. If weekly or monthly donations would suit you better, this can be arranged as shown in the attached brochure. As I have said before, I fully realise that not every one of our alumni or friends will be in a position to support our scholarship program financially at this time.
If you have any questions about our scholarships and bursaries, the 2019 program, or our anniversary activities please do not hesitate to contact me.
