2017 Annual Appeal
New College continues to have an enviable track record of academic success, sporting achievement and community service coupled with a rich culture of music and performance. While remaining committed to our Christian foundations, we have never sought to attract residents purely on the basis of academic merit, social standing or religious belief.
Some of our residents have achieved distinction in spite of their difficult financial circumstances due to assistance provided by our scholarship and bursary schemes.
Our annual fundraising appeal is an opportunity for you to allow such a young person to enjoy all that New has to offer.
The costs of university education are rising significantly and steadily. Although the New College Board and management studiously maintain annual college membership fees as low as possible, there are real and unavoidable costs associated with the maintenance and appropriate development of our college buildings and facilities.
Your donation to our annual fundraising appeal will be of direct assistance to a resident who, otherwise, may not have been able to afford to study at UNSW. Requests to us for support far outstrip our present scholarship resources.
I fully realise that not every one of our supporters will be in a position to support our scholarship scheme financially at this time. There are other ways to support present residents: particularly by informing them of opportunities for employment or career development during and beyond their university years via our alumni network.
I attach a brochure which summarises some of the ways that present residents benefit presently from our scholarship and bursary programs.
I invite you to continue to support New College as it continues in its mission of collegiality, academic excellence and service to society based on Christian faith and values. At this time, this invitation is for you to make a tax-deductable contribution to our scholarship and bursary scheme. Please support young people who face significant financial difficulties to thrive and excel at New College, UNSW.
If you have any questions about our scholarships and bursaries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
