Awards abound at Commencement Dinner

February 28, 2019
Posted by: Ash Braithwaite

On Wednesday February 20th New College kicked off 2019 with it’s annual Commencement Formal Dinner. The main address was delivered by alumnus Professor Sherman Young, who encouraged students to move out of their comfort zones in order to pursue growth in maturity and character. Professor Young (NC 1983-85) has recently been appointed Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) and Executive Director of Studios at RMIT Studios where he is responsible for leading learning and teaching strategy, practice and innovation across the university.

All who attended the Commencement Dinner were presented as usual with delicious food and an impressive musical item; a piano performance of Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now' by fresher Tom Tugwell. The Master, Bill Peirson, also acknowledged the Academic Prize winners for 2018, as well as New College Academic Prize recipients and University Medalists. A full list of Prize winners and Medalists can be seen below. A big congratulations to all recipients and the College community at large for continuing to foster and encourage academic success.
