Understanding Membership of New College

Residents at New College do not pay weekly rent, but instead an 'accommodation fee' for each semester. The accommodation fee covers the cost of your room, weekly cleaning and linen for the contract period plus a catering package inclusive of 3 meals a day, seven days a week. Broadband internet with a monthly data allowance of 15GB during semester and exam periods is provided at no extra cost with WiFi and ethernet connections provided in rooms and throughout the College. Additional data can be purchased if required.

Membership at New College is usually for the academic year consisting of 2 semesters. Each semester is of approximately 19 weeks, and covers the full period of the standard UNSW academic calendar (approx 38 weeks). Acceptance of membership is a contract for financial responsibility for the whole of this period. Termination of residency is usually at the end of the year and can only be varied with the approval of the Master.

Instalment Plans

New College understands that not all residents are able to pay the semester accommodation fee upfront. Residents may opt for an Instalment Plan contract at a slightly higher cost.

Invoicing of Fees

Deposit Information

$800

This is part of the Room Fees and not an additional cost. Please note that the deposit is payable on acceptance of membership into New College. We cannot hold places for students who do not pay their deposit within the period shown on their letter of offer.

Residential fees are invoiced at the start of the contract period. The $800 deposit paid prior to the commencement of semester will be deducted from the amount owing. The remaining balance is payable as outlined below, except where an Instalment Plan Contract has been arranged.
