In Memoriam - Simon John MacIntyre Tucker, 1982 – 2005
Simon Tucker a New Collegian from 2001-2002, sadly died on the 24th March, aged 23 years. Around 30 current and former New Collegians attended his funeral at Knox Grammar School on Friday April 1.
He was a likeable, sharp, frank, and friendly young man who’s presence was always noted in a room. Simon will be long remembered and missed by all who knew him.
We celebrate Simon’s many qualities and the impact he had on many lives in his short life. There were many qualities: his intelligence and creativity - he was a very gifted architectural student; his ability to talk about many topics (a young man with broad knowledge and interests); his sense of fun.
So many are deeply saddened by Simon’s death; the Master Trevor Cairney said "I wanted to know him better and longer. I’m sure that there are many people who share this view".
Due to the University mid session break occurring at the time of Simon's death it hasn't been possible to hold a memorial service. However New College will acknowledge Simon's life at the next College Service that will be in the College’s Main Common Room on next Wednesday 13th April at 6:00pm. This will be a normal service but the Master will lead a segment & prayers in the service devoted to a remembrance of Simon's life.
