NEW COLLEGE VILLAGE PROJECT LAUNCH HELD TO MARK START OF CONSTRUCTION
A Foundation Stone ceremony has officially marked the commencement of building on a new 319-bed residential village located at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Envisaged as the first postgraduate community of its kind in Australia, the Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of NSW, Professor Frederick G Hilmer AO, unveiled the stone for New College Village yesterday (Feb 12th).
New College has entered into a partnership with the University of New South Wales and Sydney-based Development and Construction Company, Lipman Group Pty Ltd to manage and complete the new facility, with Allen Jack+Cottier Architects providing design services.
Attended by 65 people the New College Village project launch was an exciting event.
At the launch Professor Hilmer expressed his ringing endorsement for New College and the project highlighting its importance in supporting the University's strategies and direction. Amongst other things the Vice-Chancellor commented:
This is a very important development for UNSW. It is aligned with our strategic directions and we are grateful to New College for its initiative.
