'New' Freshers made welcome at recent dinner
Orientation week (O-week) occurred recently at UNSW. This week was a great success for New College as it welcomed 77 Freshers - new New College members - this group of fresh faces has brought new life, skills and gifts to the College community for 2004.
A fun week began on the Sunday morning before O-Week with newcomers arriving in the morning; this was followed by a lunch for 400 College residents and family members.
O-Week was packed day and night with a huge number of social and other activities. A key activity was the Freshers Formal Dinner which was held on the Wednesday night of O-Week. This was a chance for the new residents to dress up and attend their first Formal Dinner at New College. At this the freshers socialised and were formally welcomed to College life.
College staff attended along with NCSA Executive Committee members and Resident Advisers. The Student President Tim Owen, Master Trevor Cairney and Dean of Residents James Pietsch addressed those gathered reviewing the week and further introducing the students to College life, its history and traditions.
