One of the things I really appreciate is the study spaces, and this has helped me find a great balance between my academic and social life, and my grades have improved so much since coming here. I get to study with my friends, and focus, there’s lots of quiet areas.

Julia's Experience:

Hi my name is Julia, I’ve been living at NCV for a little over a year now, and I’m studying a dual degree in Design, and PR & Advertising at UNSW.

When I first started looking for accommodation, I wanted to stay somewhere on campus for the convenience to get to classes, and when I came across NCV, the amenities they had really appealed to me. I liked that there was a games room where I could hang out with friends, and in the studios I have my own kitchenette and ensuite bathroom, which is very nice. After I applied, I got an email from the Dean, and we set up an in-person interview. It went really well. She was so friendly. I immediately felt so comfortable at NCV, so welcome, and she offered me a room right on the spot, which was really nice.

So I moved into NCV at an odd time of the year. It wasn’t when everyone else was moving in, but my Senior Resident welcomed me to the floor immediately. She was so kind and a couple of days in, there was a floor event, which I participated in, which was a pizza making night. There I got to have fun and make my own pizza, which was super tasty, and I got to meet new residents and some of my best friends to this day.

There are so many fun events at NCV, and when I first came, I found those events really helped me have an easy transition into the college. I was participating in events and having a lot of fun meeting people, doing fun activities, but I started wanting to contribute more to the environment and social life at the college, so I ended up joining the executive team of the social committee here at NCV. We’ve thrown a lot of fun events this year, we even had a cupcake decorating event, and we threw a harbour cruise, which was a great success, so it’s been a lot of fun.

One thing I found at NCV really helpful to me was all the resources available for residents in the college. One of the things I really appreciate is the study spaces, and this has helped me find a great balance between my academic and social life, and my grades have improved so much since coming here. I get to study with my friends, and focus. There’s lots of quiet areas. When I need a break from studying, I like to go up to the lounge chairs on the terrace and enjoy the sun.
