College has heaps of talented people that come down, and it’s great to work with all that talent and you get to learn so many new things about people, and experience so much more because you can always learn something from somebody else.

Adithya's Experience:

Hi I’m Adithya and I’m from Singapore and I Major in Physics and Minor in Biology at UNSW and I’m a second year at New College.

So when I applied to uni I was not too sure if I wanted to stay on campus but my brother told me that going through uni alone without a nice community to be with...would not be a very good experience to have. So I applied to New College based on the website, based on how much community aspect it had to offer and I have not regretted it since. I’ve stayed here for 2 years and it’s been amazing.

Being an international student I didn’t know what to expect coming to live in a new place in Australia. So I was pretty nervous, not having any friends around here… and when I came and experienced O’Week… all the activities we did were oriented towards making students that come from everywhere feel more comfortable and get to know each other while getting to see the city.

As an international you can get homesick...and you always have someone to talk to with your RAs to give you pastoral care or just people around can make you feel comforted…

O’Week is a fun experience. What made me become an O’Week leader was the fact that you get to give back to community in such a big way and welcome a new batch of freshers… As an O’Week leader it gives you an inside aspect how the entire process happens and just how to come up with more ways to make freshers from different places feel more welcome...

The social events are not only limited to parties, but there are events where you can donate to charities and kind of, help you gain awareness about issues… We have weekly suppers every Tuesday where the exec team comes down and we talk about college and any events happening… or if there is a collegian doing something fun this week that we all can support.

I’m more involved in the arts/music aspects of college… college has multiple societies within the community and I’m the head the pic soc, which is the photography club of college and I’m head of the music society of college… Actually for the past two years I’ve been the New College Revue Music Director as well.
College has heaps of talented people that come down, and it’s great to… work with all that talent and you get to learn so many new things about people, and experience so much more because you can always learn something from somebody else. College does not only do Revues, but plays and musicals, and we have things like soiree night or talent shows where you can have freshers that can display their talent.

Being in my second year of college I have formed a lot of bonds that even if my oldies have moved out I’m still in contact with them and we’re still really goodthat even if my oldies have moved out I’m still in contact with them and we’re still really good friends and we catch up.
